From 14th century beams to 1600 fairy lights in our Winter Marquee...
The Feathers Public House and Kitchen was opened in April 2009. The second of
two premises dedicated to truly looking after our friends. The building has been
here since the 14th century and has survived many lives and various uses; a residence
for the church parish, a bakery, a loved home, a number of Pubs and a carpet
shop! We are the latest custodians to bring this incredible old building back
into the heart of the community. A place of wonderful atmosphere and making merry.
We hope you enjoy being the space as much as we enjoyed creating it.
Above are some images that show the pub being brought back to life. We hope you
enjoy them.
When we opened in April we met a dear feathered friend, John White and his lovely wife Ann. During the war, our dining room was his Mum and Dads bedroom! He has been kind enough to send us photographs and his knowledge of the pub and the surrounding area is truly fascinating. If you have any old pictures of the Pub, or stories about things that may have happened to you in this beautiful building please let us know. Were you proposed too here? Did you come and feed the horses in the stables? Did you row down Church Street when it used to flood?
We would love any old stories or pictures and we will put them on this part of our site... Just click here to email any stories and let us know if you have pictures that we might like to see. Let's really celebrate the history of what has been a focal part of the community for over 600 years!
